The Rambling Rosa, Hay on Wye

Florist, Celebrant, and sacred guides for life's final threshold.

Our Vision:

To offer Alternative Funerals in Mid Wales that reimagine the funeral as a sacred, love-filled celebration of life, one that is as beautiful, wild, and unique as the person we’re saying goodbye to. Through nature’s touch, foraged flora, and heartfelt ceremony, we create space for grief, joy, remembrance, and deep connection with the cycles of life and death.

Our Offerings:

Ceremonial Funeral Design & Officiation:

Thoughtfully crafted, spiritual, or nature-based ceremonies that reflect the essence of the loved one. Each farewell is personal and sacred.

Wild Floristry & Foraged Hedgerow Decor:

Seasonal, locally foraged arrangements and altars that connect the ceremony to the land. We gather hedgerow offerings, wildflowers, herbs, and natural textures to create symbolic decor.

Sacred Support & Ritual Guidance:

We offer gentle spiritual holding, ritual ideas (candle lighting, earth offerings, nature walks), and space for family-led participation to honour the unique spirit of the departed.

Foraged Farewell Gatherings:

Optional group seasonal Conscious Walks before or after the ceremony, inviting loved ones to connect with nature, collect flowers, share stories, and honour the life in a gentle, grounding way.

Full Floral Garland

A full garland of seasonal, hand-foraged flowers brings a deeply personal, natural beauty to a Mid Wales burial. Bespoke and lovingly crafted, each bloom reflects the cycle of life, honouring the deceased with wild elegance. It’s a heartfelt tribute rooted in nature, memory, and the quiet grace of the seasons.

Processional Arch

The Processional Arch of seasonal foraged flora is a on two poles and is carried by two members of the congregation, thereby leading everyone from the entrance across the burial site to the grave side.

It is then placed at the head of the grave becoming a part of the alter that is already there.

Processional Drumming

Sophie will accompany with a gentle shamanic drumming, holding the sacred container as we move towards the ceremony.

Ceremony

This is an approximately 40 minute ceremony, designed in collaboration with the family, in which music, poetry, eulogy and prayers/blessings will be offered in celebration of the life of your loved one.

We believe in death as a sacred threshold, not a sterile event. We believe in the healing power of beauty, nature, and ritual. In a world often disconnected from grief and ceremony, we offer reconnection, to the earth, to each other, and to love.
